The Ups and Downs...

Yesterday, Blue had her 4 month checkup. She got her shots, and she's healthy and growing. Then, I took Blue to Early Childhood and Family Education. We went to the mixed-age lunch bunch class (the infant class was canceled), and she was the youngest. She watched all the other little kids, ranging in age from 10 months to 2 1/2 years, and seemed to enjoy the interaction. Everyone thought she was beautiful. I got her signed up for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (fantastic program, if you have it in your area!). I met some other stay at home mothers and found out about a stay at home mothers club that has activities every week. I checked out some of the parenting literature ECFE has to offer. I felt like SuperMom.

Today, I got out of the shower at 1:30. I could not get Blue to nap anywhere but in my arms. Each time I tried to put her in bed, she woke up immediately and cried. She wanted to suck her thumb rather than eat. I didn't get the bed made until just before the Nieces came home from school. I feel like I am doing nothing, and doing nothing well.

Don't despair, that totally normal. Especially with just getting her shots. It usually makes them feel not so great, like achy and cranky and a little ill. AND when babies are feeling ill, they want momma. Mine all got super clingy when they weren't feeling well. Plus all babies go through a stage when they want to nap ON you and wake up when put down. (well all of mine did anyway) There are always going to be those days when nothing other than feeding and changing gets done, that's the nature of the beast that is being a stay at home mom. Hear us roar =))

She's so beautiful! Don't worry. You're NOT doing nothing. It's a lot of work taking care of a brand new person.
